Support Our Schools: A Call to Action from Your PTA

Dear RFE PTA Members and Community,

As a community, we have consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to supporting our school. This year, thanks to your incredible generosity, we set a new record with our Foxy Fund Run, directly benefiting the programs and students at Ring Factory Elementary. Your support has been instrumental in enhancing the educational experience for all our Ring Factory Foxes.

However, while our fundraising efforts have provided valuable supplements to our school’s resources, they are not a substitute for the essential core funding that only our county government can provide. We find ourselves facing a significant challenge that requires a broader solution.

According to the Harford County Education Association, the Harford County Executive, Bob Cassilly, has proposed a budget that would underfund Harford County Public Schools (HCPS) by $40 million. This is in addition to a $29 million shortfall from last year, which has already put considerable strain on our educational infrastructure.

Here’s How You Can Help

  1. Attend the Council Budget Hearings: We encourage you to stand with our teachers and community at the upcoming council budget hearings on May 8th and May 13th at 7:00 p.m. Your presence and voice are crucial in advocating for the necessary funding our schools desperately need.
  2. Write to Our Leaders: If you cannot attend the hearings, your voice can still make a significant impact. Please write a letter or an email expressing your concerns and urging full funding for HCPS. You can send your messages directly via this Action Network link or email Mr. Cassilly at CountyExecutive@harfordcountymd.gov.

Why It Matters

Every child deserves a robust educational environment. Without adequate funding, we risk losing valuable teachers and essential programs that contribute to our children’s development and success. Let us come together once again, as we have in the past, to ensure our schools receive the support they need to continue providing high-quality education.

Thank you for your continued dedication and support. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our students and teachers.
